_who: thomas t. jensen, david o. wolthers_where: aa_when: 2008_what: the project is based on two behaviors: fractals and phyllotaxis. the sum-things wanted to investigate the notion of part to whole and the process of iterative aggregation of a single component.

the sum-things designed a very basic component which had the quality of being able to attach to itself when copied. then the sum-things translated the fractal and phyllotaxis studies as behavior in the component, enabling it to rotate, scale and copy. a single component in itself is not that interesting to look at but as a whole, the wall achieves emergent qualities and characteristic not found in the component. this is one of the characteristics of emergent systems.
